Ubisoft, a leader in the gaming industry with studios on five continents, has closed a global partnership deal with SpeedTree for Games to ensure that all development teams have access to the game industry’s most popular vegetation modeling and rendering software.  SpeedTree has been a part of many of Ubisoft’s most ambitious titles over the years, including Ubisoft’s latest hit Watch Dogs 2.

“Ubisoft® has a long-standing partnership with IDV and is now proud to make available SpeedTree to its talented teams across the globe, enabling them to create immersive worlds with even more high quality vegetation,” said Chadi Lebbos, Technology Group Director, Tools and Middleware, Ubisoft.

Watch Dogs 2 features an immersive open-world recreation of San Francisco for gamers to explore, conquer, and hack.  Ubisoft utilized SpeedTree to create the vegetation across the entire game, from cultivated gardens to the the hills overlooking the pacific ocean. SpeedTree for Games is our award-winning middleware tool that has been used in more than 1,000 video games, from AAA titles like Far Cry: Primal or The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt to indie titles made with our UE4 and Unity Subscription Modelers.  SpeedTree has become the vegetation tool of choice for artists and game developers who want complete control as well as the highest possible quality.
